 My seventy-year-old wife and I have known and been treated by Dr. Figueroa for the past twelve years. As owners of a small hillside horse ranch, we’ve experienced many of the small—and not-so-small ailments—that come with an active life: bad backs, broken legs, arthritis, spinal canal stenosis, tennis elbow, hip pain, pulled tendons, and more. Dr. Jose (Joe) Figueroa has successfully guided us through all of them.
Joe is a good doctor. He takes the time to listen and strives to understand everything related to the problem.
Even more important than being a good doctor, Joe is a good person. Eight years ago, my wife suffered an excruciating, unstoppable back spasm (9 out of 10 pain) that went on for days. After the ER sent her home with pain pills on a Saturday morning, I called Dr. Figueroa late on Sunday. He told me he could see her the next day at 4:00 p.m., immediately after his regular clinic hours.
Unfortunately, my wife’s ailment proved to be much more serious than a back spasm. By the time she was supposed to see Dr. Figueroa, she was in a coma in the ICU at Methodist and on a ventilator. Over the next four days, Joe spent more than twenty hours at the hospital supporting us as my wife hung between life and death. Not only did he offer emotional support, but he also helped me process the flood of medical information so I could make informed decisions in the ICU. Any mistakes, and my wife would have died.
Long story short: she made it.
